COVENANT RENEWAL WORSHIP

The Christian life is built upon the foundation of weekly worship (Acts 2:42). On the first day of the week, the Lord calls his people into a common assembly to worship in his presence (Acts 20:7). We come singing loudly with great joy (Ps. 100:2). We confess our sins and our faith (Js. 5:16). He consecrates us through prayer and the Word of God. We are instructed, encouraged, and corrected as the gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We commune around the table of our King in a covenant meal consisting of bread and wine, signifying our participation in his body and blood by faith (1 Cor. 11:23-26). Then, we are commissioned to go out into the world as those blessed by God to be a blessing to Lowndes County and to the ends of the earth (Matt. 28:18-20).

Because this is what happens when we gather for worship, we don't want our kids to miss it! Instead of sending our kids to another room during worship, we worship with our children (2 Chron. 20:13), training them up into a mature participation in the Liturgy (Eph. 6:4). We will provide a quiet space for infants and toddlers during the sermon as they learn, but encourage parents to keep their little ones in the room as much as possible. We welcome them as Christ welcomes them. In fact, he says we could learn a thing or two from them. (Luke 18:16-17)

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • A group of people who take the Word and worship of God seriously, but not themselves. The joy of the Lord is our strength. Expect laughter and singing (and the regular potluck!)

  • A lively liturgy. We value participatory worship, so keep your bulletin handy and take part in the liturgy with gusto!

  • The sounds of squirmy kiddos. We are a family-integrated church. We believe worshiping alongside our children is a vital component of discipleship. And that "Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." (Psalm 8:2) The devil is silenced in the cries of our little ones!

  • There is no dress code. Wear your "Sunday best" or whatever you can find that is clean!

  • We use wine during communion. While this isn't the norm in our area, we believe this is proper according to scripture and consistent with our confession (LBCF 30.3), and in step with the majority of Church history.

  • We are currently meeting at the Hahira First Free Will Baptist Church (402 Frances St.) at 4:00 PM. Our services are roughly an hour and a half long.
